The Deck Brothers
Currently representing Boston, twins DJ Mdeck and DJ Jdeck(Originally from RI) got their start in 2005 hosting a 3 hour weekly college radio show called “ The Tuesday Blend”, on 90.3 FM WRIU (University of Rhode Island), spinning underground, old school & local Hip Hop every Tuesday from 3-6 PM, for over two and a half years. The deck bros. moved to Boston in 2008, and amongst other projects, begun releasing a number of successful mixtapes on the internet. They were also introduced to the local bboy scene, which inspired them to start breaking. Already armed with turntable and vinyl digging skills, they quickly turned their focus towards digging for bboy breaks. In addition to Hip Hop events and Boston clubs, the up and coming brothers have been appearing at an increasing number of local bboy jams and continue to dig hard!
An obsession with music and Hip Hop culture led to an obsession with vinyl digging, breakbeats, turntablism, sampling, beat making, bboying and learning the true art of the DJ. With respect to the originators of turntablism and Hip Hop, the Deck Brothers have set out to keep the music, sound and attitude authentic and true. With an appreciation and understanding of all types of music including Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Rock, Reggae... the brothers are representing for the upcoming generation of well-rounded Hip Hop DJs and record diggers. They have rocked live radio, mixtapes, beats and production, night clubs, bboy jams, mc battles, art galleries, house parties and always know what to do to keep the floor bouncing and heads noddin'.
